24 CARAT MULTI CUISINE RESTAURANT, COCHIN

This is my first food review ever and i might be a little bit biased cause i had to limit myself to veggie. well the day was the 16th of July. i remember is so clearly cause me and kichu were at q cinemas in gold souk mall, vytilla, cochin to watch the grand finale of the harry potter series. both of being potter maniacs(dunno how much of the maniac is left in kichu) we booked the tickets for the first show that day which was the day after the release.the movie was awesome.and got out beaming and stuffed with cheese popcorn. i didn't ask for the tub and we kept pushing it to each others lap asking the later to finish it.:D:D.so not very hungry i suggested our star of the day-the 24 carat!!!

i always wanted to go there and had my hopes high.they had this touch panel thingy outside giving the list of all dishes.it looked promising and we got in. surprisingly there weren't many people around.just one couple.it was past noon.may be people judged it to be too expensive.

we choose a place at the far end.a couch despite the bearer pointing us to table for two .kichu wanted the comfort of the big couch .

my first reaction to the place was-wow!!!.this is what a restaurant should look like.it was impressive.the whole place was dark but not the gloomy dark. the lights where sharp and in places where they never struck ur eyes.a golden glow shone across the place.they placed wine glasses and poured in warm water. a candlestick stood in the middle of the table.half burned.not lit.kichu said they might do it only for dinners.

i took the menu to order.it was impressive.they seemed to live up to their claim of 'muti cuisine'.there where a lot of them.but being vegan(for the time being)our choices reduced to something like 10% of the menu. this is definitely not a vegans place. if u want to have the typical north Indian menu fine.but they have noting else to offer

being a soup fanatic i looked for soups first.after a thorough scan i came to see that again i didn't have a lot of options.there was cream of mushroom and sweet corn veg soup.i was hoping for thalomine at least.'multi cuisine' na.i went for sweet corn so did kichu.

it took a lot of time to decide what i wanted to eat cause there wasn't much to choose from.karthik showed his irritation by declaring that he is going directly into dessert.suits him.i went for american chop suey.thank god i never get tired of that 1. and kichu ordered the most expensive dessert on the menu hoping that will make up for everything.it was called a 24 carat delight or something.

and we waited

after bout 15 mins.they brought the soup.i started hating every soup in the planet after taking the first sip.it was like raw veggies boiled in water.my idea of a soup was a creamy brew with veggies that melt in my mouth.and here i was chewing 'soup' like a cow.i got no flavor what so ever and poured the entire bowl of ketchup to make it edible. karthik didn't even finish it.i gave him a disappointed look and he said that they must have used freshly cut veggies.
i waited for the main course to surprise me.i must admit i was skeptical and judgmental so the moment they bought in the chop suey i gave him 'the look'. he was like..wow..looks yumm...and stuff. there was a thin layer veggies entirely covered in schezwan sauce and i cudnt even spot the noodles. even the chop suey had 'freshly cut ' partially cooked veggies and the thinnest crust of fried noodle possible. the sauce was light not tangy as expected. as far as i was concerned i was done.

but kichu's order was yet to come.i was hoping for a lovely presentation of their signature dessert but that came out to be the biggest disaster of them all.the 150 buck icecream had three small scoops of ice cream in three colors with tutti fruity in a small steel platter.it was like colored ice. being n ice cream freak kichu recognized it fast. the ordinary cheap ice cream u get in supermarkets. i remember eating better ones in a tiny bakery near my college.i was really mad and wanted to get out.we left without finishing the ice cream.

final verdict: not up to the mark.may be the non veg's are good.but after this wont risk another chance.
