This must have been the most craziest trip we have ever done. I have goosebumps at the mere thought of it. After one night in Coorg these two crazy people decides ,enough with Coorg , lets go some place 'near by' and picks Mangalore! And ends up going till Udupi!.I cannot believe we reached back the same night.
We left from Coorg Sunday early Morning and ended up taking a route to Mangalore as advised by dear old Google maps. And it was one of the scariest trips ever. Not because of the terrain or anything . It was deserted . The whole route. We met no man. There were roads and the places were habitable but we met no one . And that was scary. The roads were partially done.Most of them were not paved . It were those kacchha roads we used to learn in school. Red mud roads.
We reached Mangalore by 10 and freshened up in Hotel Moti Mahal .And then we went around Mangalore. We spend a lot of time in Thanirbhavi beach taking pics . We also went to Suratkal beach. And then tripadvisor told us that the best place to eat is Woodlands Hotel in Udupi. It was 1 pm by then. Yup, the crazy us drove all the way to Udupi just to have food from that hotel. we reached there by 3 and finished lunch by 4. The madness didn't end there. We found out from a notice on their notice board that St marys island was near by. We decided to take the risk.
When we went there people were waiting for the next boat to the island. And I was feeling sticky and filthy cause of the salt winds.We boarded the last boat to the island along with a bunch of girls from the Manipal Engineering college .Spend an hour there . Got back by 6. Just the thought of driving all the way back from Mangalore to Bangalore was sickening although I wasn't the one driving. One scary night drive later we were back home and back to work the very next day. Adrenalin indeed!.

These islands are way different from what you see regularly , with the ever expanding beaches made out of crustacean shells and the basaltic lava rock formations. Must visit.
